The first day of school is just around the corner! Our classroom is looking great and I am looking forward to seeing it full of happy faces!
Some important things for the first days of school: Water Bottle - Please pack an extra, spill-proof water bottle for your child to keep inside the classroom. This helps us stay hydrated and saves us time from standing in line at the drinking fountain. {please fill with water only} Snack - please pack a small, healthy snack daily. This snack should be separate from your child's lunch bag and located in a spot that your child can easily find. One suggestion is to tuck your child's snack in a front pocket of their backpack. There is no need for a second lunch bag, but please label your child's snack so there is no question who it belongs to. Lunch - Your child should bring a healthy lunch daily, or be prepared to buy lunch at school {cost is $3.75}. Lunch is at 11:30 each day. For more information about lunches (including menus and setting up a pre-payment account) please visit this link: PUSD Nutrition Services. Please keep your snack in your backpack. For the first day of school, students can line up on by their backpacks by our classroom. On the second day (and the rest of the school year) students will line up on our room number out on the playground (we will be experts at this for sure by the time we finish our first week of school). Dismissal Routine All students will be dismissed at the front gate between Kindergarten and First Grade for the first three weeks of school. This will change for early birdies once we begin our staggered start schedule (to be discussed further at back to school night). Back to School Night Back to School Night is on Thursday, August 16th. We will meet in our classroom from _____tbd_____ p.m. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our classroom, first grade, how staggered day will work, to sign up for volunteer positions and to let me know your staggered day preference as well. For a short description of volunteer positions, important dates, and donations please go to the Home Webpage. You will also find a BTS parent checklist and important links on the Back to School Webpage. Please remember that this night is for parents only. Back to School Assessments Please click on Back to School Assessment SignUp Genius to sign your child up for an after school assessment. These assessment slots are during the first three weeks of school. Parent Email Addresses Parents, please complete the Contact Information Google Form so that I can easily add your email to the contact list for our class. At Back to School Night I will pass out a parent survey so that you will have the opportunity to give me important information about your child. In the meantime, feel free to send me an email with any questions or comments. I can't wait to get to know your child! My email address: [email protected]. See you on on the first day! Warmly, Jen Cox
