READ EVERYDAY (15-20 minutes or @ 80 minutes a week) and record your progress on the homework log.
TAKE HOME READING BOOKS will go home at the beginning of each week. Please help your child take care of our treasured classroom books and return them at the end of the week.
RAZ KIDS - Instructions located in homework folders
SNAP WORD/SPELLING PRACTICE will go home each week in your child's homework folder. Please practice reading and spelling at least two times during the week.
Don't forget to continue the pattern where an adult reads to your child (this can be included in the weekly reading minutes). Not only is this an excellent way to model fluency, but it also creates a natural place to have a book talk discussion with your child. Please use the bookmarks and book talk questions located in the homework folder.
PRACTICE MATH (5-10 minutes a night or @ 30 minutes a week) and record your progress on the homework log. For the first trimester, our goal is to practice number sense and master math facts from 1 to 10 using these tools:
Worksheets/Eureka Math Workbook pages
When we are close to finishing a Math Module I will send home the homework book. You may choose to have your child do some pages...or not!
Online games including JiJi math and Zearn (see below)
Flashcards
Board Games
Oral practice of math facts
